MY Legal Limited (“we”, “our” or “us”) is committed to ensuring compliance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 (“Privacy Act”). The information below applies to personal information (information about an individual) we collect in relation to this website, when you interact with us, and when you use our services.

When you visit our website, we collect some non-personal information. This information cannot be used to personally identify you. We use this information for the purposes of system administration, examining how the use of the site can improve connectivity, improve usability and features of website, and for our internal reporting. Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies enable you to access all the features of our website.

If you choose to provide us with personal information such as your email address, for example by filling out an electronic query, we will use the information only for the purposes that you authorise it to be used for. We will send you email marketing to that email address if you agree to us doing so.

When you engage us for our services, we will collect information that you give us, that is necessary for our services, information from relevant third parties, and another other information you authorize us to collect.

We collect this information in order to provide you with our services and also to comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (“AML”). If you choose not to provide us with the requested information, we may be unable to provide our services to the full extent.

When we are provided information by you, we will comply with the provisions of the Privacy Act. Any information from you that we collect, hold, use, and disclose are in accordance with the principles set out in the Privacy Act.

To protect your personal information, we will use unique identifiers such as ‘client numbers’, only allow authorised persons to access your data, and secure your electronic data through encrypted cloud-based providers.

We will only disclose or release your information when we are required to, or permitted by law to do so, if you have authorised disclosure or release, or it is the purpose we collected the information. This may involve sharing information overseas to third parties.

If for any reason you do not wish to share your personal information to third parties required for our services, please let us know in advance and we will attempt satisfy your information requirements.

We will only retain information only for so long as necessary to fulfil our services (normally 7 years, or 5 years for AML compliance). Some information may be held indefinitely or as instructed by you.
